The Parent Manual Media Kit
“This is the kind of parenting book that every parent will recognize themselves in.”
“The Parent Manual and its Toolkit stand out for validating the messy, challenging reality of raising children rather than promising a tidy formula for doing it ‘right’.”

Title: The Parent Manual: Everyday Explanations for Raising Your Kids Your Way
Publisher: Row House Publishing
Release Date: November 3, 2026
Format: Paperback
ISBN: 9781967182268
Summary:
Your child didn't come with a script. Neither should your parenting.
Parenting is hard. The last thing you need is another expert telling you their way is the only way.
The Parent Manual is different. Written by a licensed psychologist with 25 years of clinical experience and more than a decade as a parent of three, this book offers something far more valuable than a prescriptive approach: genuine understanding. Short, readable chapters tackle the real challenges of childhood and adolescence, combining research-backed theory with practical strategies you can actually use.
Because when your real-life child doesn't follow the script, you'll not only know why. You'll have the confidence to adapt.
Your family is unique. Your approach should be too.
Why I Wrote This Book
Most parents are offered parenting advice that falls into two categories: either little snippets of information that leave you with more questions than answers, or large in-depth tomes that go into so much detail it can feel disorienting and overwhelming. My experience has been that parents struggle to feel confident in supporting their child because they don’t have the full context and understanding of why pediatric professionals are telling them to do what they are. I wrote this book to provide a full context overview of many of the common concerns in childhood and parenting, so that moms and dads can feel more confident and secure in responding to their child’s needs. My background as a school psychologist and clinical psychologist have afforded me both the training and experience to offer not just relevant and important information regarding the brain science and psychological theories, but also to provide a variety of practical suggestions for how to support children in ways that can be tailored to your one of a kind family.
About the Author
Rebecca Weksner is a clinical psychologist, educational psychologist, and perinatal mental health clinician with more than two decades of experience. She brings a rare depth of training to the challenges of modern parenting, matched by her lived experience as a parent of three rambunctious kids. It is this combination that shapes everything she writes, with a singular goal: that parents walk away feeling more capable and empowered in themselves and their decisions.
